OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – Auburn men’s golf holds strong in fourth place, just four shots back of the lead, after a respectable 36-hole opener at the Invitational at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee. 

The No. 2 Tigers shot rounds of even par and 6-under for a 570 (-6) on the first day of the 2025-26 season. Auburn’s 6-under second round tied No. 7 Virginia for the best score of the afternoon wave.

No. 5 Ole Miss leads at 10-under heading into Tuesday’s finale. Freshman Jake Albert will lead off the tee times at 7:20 a.m. CT from the first hole. 

Individually, Auburn has two players below par and one player at par. Junior Josiah Gilbert started slow with a 73 (+1) in the morning but responded with a 66(-6) in the afternoon. At 5-under, he stands tied for third and trails the leaders, Ole Miss’ Cameron Tankersly & Tennessee’s Jackson Herrington, by a single shot. 

Sophomore Billy Davis had a consistently good day with rounds of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1). He is tied for seventh place. Junior Cayden Pope enters Tuesday at even par after a 73 (+1) and 71 (-1) Monday. 

Freshmen Logan Reilly, Jack Roberts and Albert all made their collegiate debuts, playing their first two rounds as Tigers. Reilly leads the trio at 3-over after going 73(+1)-74(+2).
