MRO important to India’s aviation progress: Boeing India chief

Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services will play a decisive position in shaping the way forward for India’s aviation trade, stated Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India & South Asia.

“MRO is really going to be important as part of the ecosystem of Aviation India. We have almost 3,000 aircraft coming into India over the next 20 years, and those need to be maintained increasingly here. We have been supporting base maintenance and line maintenance here with our partners such as GMR, Air Works and AIASL,” Gupte famous.

Speaking with ANI, Gupte stated, given its significance to infrastructure and nationwide safety, the aerospace sector ought to function in a zero-tariff setting.

Gupte stated the subsequent part of progress could be to encourage suppliers, together with engine and element companions, to arrange services in India. Companies like Safran are already establishing engine MRO items in India, whereas Boeing has introduced touchdown gear work. Looking forward, he stated India’s aerospace journey will hinge on collaborative alternatives. “In the years to come, a lot of it will depend on the co-development and co-production opportunities that come our way, but I imagine those will be very attractive,” Gupte stated.
