Redbirds Declare 12 Occasion Wins And Safe 180-82 Win Over Quincy In Season Opener

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State swimming & diving closed out its first meet of the season in opposition to Quincy, Friday afternoon at Horton Pool. The Redbirds claimed 12 occasion wins and tallied 180 factors throughout the meet.

To kick the meet off for Illinois State, the 200 Medley relay crew of Tyler, Fris, Snow, and Turken picked up the primary occasion win for the Redbirds with a time of 1:47.62.

In the 1000 Y Free, Illinois State secured a 1-2 end as Sophomore Hope Westphal earned the win with a mark of 11:05.33. Senior Maya Burkstrand tallied a runner-up end with a time of 11:23.96. 

The Redbirds swept the rostrum within the 200 Y Free with Sophomore Amelia Murphy taking the highest step with a time of 1:59.07. Sophomore Ines Kieffel earned a runner-up end with a mark of two:00.67, with Junior Sylvia Admire wrapping up a Redbirds 1-2-3 end with a time of two:01.18.

Senior Chloe Tyler secured a victory within the 100 Y Back with a mark of 58.08. Junior Bailey Gott earned a runner-up end in her first look as a Redbird with a time of 58.72. Senior Delaney Boulden helped Illinois State sweep the rostrum with a mark of 1:01.24 to complete third.

Freshman Ava Ostendorf secured her first collegiate occasion win with a time of 1:07.53 within the 100 Y Breast. Sophomore Hailey Fris added a runner-up end with a mark of 1:08.58.

In the 200 Y Fly, the Redbirds earned one other podium sweep with Senior Giulia Basco taking the occasion win with a mark of two:06.33. Sophomore Avery Watson tallied a runner-up end with a time of two:15.78. Freshman Megan Sego, in her first collegiate meet, earned a third-place end with a mark of two:17.96.

Illinois State swept the rostrum within the 50 Y Free, as Graduate Mia Snow tallied a win with a mark of 24.20. Senior Ella Turken completed runner-up with a time of 24.79, as Freshman Elle Dameworth earned a third-place end in her first look at Illinois State.

Sophomore Alexandra Davis picked up her first profession occasion win with a victory within the 100 Y Free with a mark of 53.63. Kieffel earned her second runner-up end with a mark of 54.35 as Senior Adi Luker accomplished the Redbird podium sweep with a third-place end and a time of 55.74.

In the 200 Y Back, Tyler earned her second victory of the day with a mark of two:06.87. Gott earned her second runner-up end on the day with a time of two:07.73. Fris swept the rostrum for Illinois State with a mark of two:09.24.

Ostendorf earned her second win of the day with a time of two:24.52 within the 200 Y Breast.

Westphal tallied her second occasion win of the day with a mark of 5:24.34 within the 500 Y Free. Murphy earned a runner-up end with a time of 5:30.92 to safe a 1-2 end for Illinois State.

Snow picked up her second occasion win of the day with a victory within the 100 Y Fly with a mark of 56.43, as Turken tallied a runner-up end with a time of 59.13.
