Carson Chamber Singers current ‘Travel with Me,’ Oct. 10 in Carson City

By Elinor Bugli — The Carson Chamber Singers kicks off its forty first season with “Travel with Me,” a live performance on Friday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 200 North Division St., Carson City.

For the Singers’ first live performance with Director Jordan Gotchy, they invite the viewers to journey via time and place, that includes music from the 1500s to right now, by composers from England, Canada, and all through the U.S. The live performance’s title is from a music by Scott Farthing with textual content impressed by Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road.” The lyrics say, “Let’s go! Whoever you are, let’s go! Come travel with me.”

General admission tickets to the Oct. 10 live performance are $18 every. Discount tickets for seniors (age 62 plus), college students, and members of the Carson City Symphony Association are $15. Youth ages 18 and underneath are admitted free. Tickets can be found on-line at CCSymphony.com and on the door.

Founded in 1985 as a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, the Carson Chamber Singers is open to singers high-school age and above. They carry out in 5 or extra concert events annually. They have sung with the Reno Philharmonic and sing recurrently with the Carson City Symphony. They have carried out at a number of venues in northern Nevada and as far west as Sacramento.

Carson City Symphony Association concert events are supported partly by public funds via grants from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, from Carson City, and by personal donations.
