“It’s really frustrating, especially again, against a top-25 team that’s ranked in the top-10 in the RPI (Rating Percentage Index). We felt like on the day, our soccer was better than theirs, and that’s tough. It was a really tough pill to swallow. We felt like our game plan was great. We feel like our scouts were great. And so again, just to feel like that one slipped away is a big bummer. But again, testament to West Virginia, because they found a way to win a game, and that’s ultimately all that matters.”

“We didn’t feel like any team they had played had really put them under a ton of pressure and really pressed them for 90 minutes. And so that was a big part of our game plan, and obviously it’s a huge part of our identity as a program. We felt like that was going really well. We felt like it was working, it was causing them problems, and it was generating chances for us. It’s reassuring to know that we continue to see our identity in these games. Just finding that next level of maturity to close out a match.”

“It’s always nice to see, again, a little bit of resilience and a little bit of grit, but again, you hope that you don’t put yourself in that position where now you have to dig yourself out of a hole that you put yourself in. Proud of McKinnan (Braswell) for putting the team on her back and hitting a laser beam to bring us within one but again, at that point, it’s unfortunately a little too late. And again, when you create problems for yourself, it gets a lot harder to get out of those holes but again, good to see some bite, good to see some grit, and hopefully we can just ride that into next weekend.”
