Georgetown Males’s Swimming & Diving Down Villanova in BIG EAST Opener

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University males’s swimming & diving group captured its first convention win of the season over Villanova (199.5-100.5) at McCarthy Pool on Saturday afternoon. The girls’s group fell 172-128 to the Wildcats. 

ON THE RECORD

“It was a great event today against BIG EAST foe Villanova. I was really impressed with our teams energy and focus this week leading up to the meet and the results showed. We had countless season best performances, a few pool records and even a program record. It was a great step forward for the team as a whole and I’m looking forward to building off of this success. After the meet, we had an awesome team event, where we celebrated Georgetown’s 2025 BIG EAST championship team. It was nice to see last year’s team, parents and alumni together to celebrate. MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

• In the 1m dive, the Hoyas swept the rostrum with Nico Santiago (308.18), Brendan Hodgens (301.73) and Hriday Parekh (290.85) popping out on high. 
• The 200 medley relay group of Isaac Holtham, Nick Pezzella, Henry Haupt and Owen Watkins positioned first with a time of 1:29.14.
• Tre Cottrell captured first within the 200 free with a time of 1:39.46.
• In the 100 backstroke, Holtham (49.57), Troy Keen (52.0) and Garrett Molitor (52.10) swept the rostrum. 
• Pezzella completed first within the 100 breaststroke with a time 55.96 and the 200 breaststroke with a time of two:02.98.
• In the 50 free, Watkins broke his personal report whereas setting a brand new program report with a time of 19.70.
• The Hoyas dominated the 3m dive with Santiago (303.68), Hodgens (291.75) and Parekh (278.25) incomes the highest three finishes. 
• In the 200 backstroke, Holtham (1:49.88) and Conor Jellig (1:52.26) completed first and second, respectively. 
• Gabe Gonda (4:39.59) and Ronan Krauss (4:42.77) took first and second within the 500 free. 
• In the 100 fly, Watkins positioned first with a time of 49.35.
• Holtham completed first within the 200 IM (1:52.66) adopted by Cottrell in second (1:54.83). 
• The 200 free relay group of Watkins, Keen, Cottrell and Daren Chen completed in first with a time of 1:22.30. 

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

• In the 1m dive, Audrey Dietz captured first with a rating of 250.65.
• The 200 medley relay group of Heidi Wu, Angelica Reali, Madeline Malone and Taplin Seelbach positioned first with a time of 1:42.66.
• In the 100 backstroke, Heidi Wu and Lila Connor captured first and second with instances of 56.05 and 56.16, respectively.
• In the 200 fly, Reali earned first with a time of two:02.23. 
• Seelbach positioned first within the 50 free with a time of 23.53. 
• In the 200 backstroke, Wu positioned first and broke a pool report with a time of 1:58.10.
• Wu earned first within the 200 IM with a time of two:03.17. 
• The 200 free relay group of Malone, Bridget Kelly, Connor and Seelbach completed in first with a time of 1:33.20.
