USC Rowing Wins Collegiate Eight and Four at Head of the American

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The USC rowing crew confirmed out of their season debut on the Head of the American Regatta on Saturday. The Trojans competed within the Women’s Collegiate Pairs, 4+ and eight+, coming away with eight top-five finishes and successful each the 4+ and eight+ races. 

“The team made a solid step today in their first race,” Head Coach Kelsie Chaudoin stated. “We’ve spent a good amount of time going at one another in pairs this fall, so for them to have the chance to race other west coast crews was a great opportunity for everyone.”

The day kicked off with 10 USC pairs within the collegiate race. Five pairs completed within the high 10 with Emily Munroe and Abbie Diemer taking second place, Gerli Endrekson and Viktoryia Vasilyeva claiming third and Elena Cerrudo and Louise Gyssels ending in fourth. The pairs had been up in opposition to boats from Oregon State, Sacramento State, Washington State, Portland, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State and Chico State. Overall, all Trojan boats positioned within the top-25 out of 39 boats. 

The momentum carried into the Women’s Collegiate 8+ race with USC incomes first place forward of Oregon State and Washington State in second and third, respectively. The Trojans’ B boat got here in fourth and C boat earned fifth to take care of a dominant efficiency on the day by the Women of Troy. 

To shut out the day, the USC 4+ boats saved the identical successful story with a primary place end in addition to B and C boats coming in fifth and seventh, respectively. The Trojans held a 20-second hole over the second place finishers from Oregon State.

“Winning the 8+ and the 4+ was a good step forward, and a testament to how the entire team shows up and pushes every day. We’re looking forward to getting back to work next week,” Chaudoin stated.

In complete, 38 Trojans appeared on the Head of the American, together with 11 Trojan debuts from true freshmen right now. With fall competitors full, USC will flip to preparation for spring competitors beginning in March.
