ACC Broadcasts Volleyball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – SMU’s Malaya Jones was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, whereas Louisville’s Hannah Sherman was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Louisville’s Nayelis Cabello garnered ACC Setter of the Week honors, whereas Cardinals’ teammate Kalyssa Blackshear was named ACC Freshman of the Week for matches performed October 20-26.
 
ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Malaya Jones, Gr., Opposite Hitter, SMU (El Dorado Hills, California)

• Totaled 32 kills, a median of 5.33 kills per set, ending with simply two errors throughout two matches.
• Hit .625 on the weekend, together with a program file for hitting proportion on 20+ makes an attempt in a single match with a .750 hitting proportion on Sunday.
• Her .750 hitting proportion on Sunday was the second highest in a match this season throughout the NCAA with a minimal of 20 makes an attempt.
• Earned her second ACC Offensive Player of the Week Award this season (September 1).

ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hannah Sherman, Middle Blocker, Louisville (Silver Spring, Maryland)

• Totaled 17 complete blocks, a median of two.43 blocks per set, in wins over Duke and No. 21 North Carolina.
• Helped maintain North Carolina to a .114 hitting proportion for the match.
• Recorded 16.5 factors, a median of two.36 factors per set, within the two contests.

ACC SETTER OF THE WEEK
Nayelis Cabello, So., Setter, Louisville (Clermont, Florida)

• Recorded 68 assists, a median of 9.71 assists per set, in victories over Duke and No. 21 North Carolina.
• Registered 17 digs, 10 kills and 7 complete blocks on the week.
• Totaled 16.0 factors and a couple of.29 factors per set, 1.43 kills per set, 2.43 digs per set and 1.29 blocks per set on the week.
• Claimed her second ACC Setter of the Week Award this season (October 6).

ACC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Kalyssa Blackshear, Fr., Opposite Hitter, Louisville (Lomita, California)

• Recorded 22 kills, a median of three.14 kills per set, in victories over Duke and No. 21 North Carolina.
• Registered 11 complete blocks, a median of 1.57 blocks per set.
• Was the main scorer for the Cardinals this week, totaling 27.5 factors.
• Claimed her second ACC Freshman of the Week Award this season (October 13).
