SPRINGFIELD – Kimani Worghs, a 2017 graduate of the High School of Commerce, returned to his alma mater on Oct. 24 for an occasion celebrating creativity, resilience, and the facility of pursuing one’s desires.

Now primarily based in New York with roots in London, Ghana, and Jamaica, Worghs is an internationally revealed photographer. His work has been featured in Vogue, Deeds Magazine, and Male Model Scene, and his debut ebook, “Ascension,” chronicles his pictures journey from 2020 to 2022.

“2020 was one of the most important years of our lives. For better or for worse, everything changed and we changed with it‚” Worghs writes on the book’s Amazon listing.

“The following years came in four stages for me. It began with Quarantine, also known as the “reset button.” It was a stage in life that gave many of us time to pause and find ourselves without the pressures of work or responsibilities, but at the cost of isolation and unanswered questions,” He continues.

The second stage, Worghs writes, was pushed by the Black Lives Matter motion, and the third stage was touring to Jamaica for his grandfather’s funeral.

“Once I returned, I left my job as a teller at the bank and began my journey of ascension. I focused solely on developing my work by creating photographic stories influenced by friendship, romance, and escapism.”
