NEW ORLEANS – The App State males’s and ladies’s cross nation groups collected quite a few postseason awards after sweeping the Sun Belt workforce titles for a second consecutive season on Oct. 31. Staying calm and executing the game plan was fun to see.”  

Directed by Richards, App State’s ladies scored 77 factors, which was 11 higher than the second-place rating from Southern Miss.

Freshman Tessa Massa led the Mountaineer ladies, ending eleventh with a 5K private better of 17:39.90 to gather Freshman of the Year and second-team All-SBC honors. Collecting second-team all-conference honors alongside Massa was fellow freshman Josie Jackson, who positioned 14th with a private better of 17:47.50. Sophomores Savannah Moore (fifteenth, 17:51.00) and Breanna Budzinski (seventeenth, 17:51.50) and freshman Elizabeth McCart (twentieth, 17:54.30) collected third-team all-conference nods for his or her performances.

“Tessa rose up and competed very well,” Richards stated. “She ran a significant personal best and put herself in a position early in the race to lead the team score and win Freshman of the Year. Right behind Tessa were two of her freshman teammates, Josie and Elizabeth, and all three of them finished as the top freshmen of the race. I’m looking forward to how these three and the rest of their class will build and grow at App State. Savannah and Breanna earned all-conference honors as well. Savannah ran a smart race and paced herself for a great kick.”

 

The Mountaineers will compete on the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 14 in Charlottesville, Va. The ladies’s 6K is slated for 10 a.m. with the lads’s 10K to comply with at 11 a.m. Parking for the occasion is ticketed and should be bought on-line prematurely.
