Organisers of the inaugural Golf Highland Photography Competition have been “bowled over” by the usual of entries.

Club members and employees joined dozens of tourists in submitting photos that captured the great thing about programs across the area.

The wealth of spectacular images gave judges a collective headache earlier than they settled on three class winners.

They have been:

• Best scenic golf course (£100 and a fourball at Royal Dornoch) – Early Morning Dew, taken at The Nairn Golf Club, by Richard Ewan

• Best picture of golfers at play (£100 and a fourball at Royal Dornoch) – Chasing Birdies at Sunset, taken at Grantown-on Spey, by Matt Pawsey

• Best nature or environmental characteristic on the golf course (£100 and a fourball at Cabot Highlands) – Star Trails and Aurora, taken at Cabot Highlands, by Chris MacInnes

Golf Highland chairman Neil Hampton, common supervisor at Royal Dornoch, thanked everybody who entered the competitors.

“We didn’t know what to expect when we launched the competition at the start of the season. We were in uncharted territory,” he stated.

“But we have been bowled over by the volume and sheer quality of the photographs.

“We wanted amateur photographers to capture images which showed off the fabulous scenery and natural environment our courses are famed for – and they didn’t let us down.

“Entries featured the full gamut of courses.

“Golf Highland is grateful for the support we enjoyed from Royal Dornoch, Cabot Highlands and The Nairn Golf Club, and thanks are due to judges Shona Rankin, Allan Minto, Sandy McCook and Gordon Bannerman for rising to the challenge of deciding our category winners.

“Many thanks to everyone who entered and made life difficult for our panel.

“We are keen to build on the success of the inaugural competition so look out for news of the 2026 follow-up.”
