The VISAC Gallery is happy to ask residents and guests to hitch them in kicking off a shocking exhibit, reflecting the mountain coronary heart of the Kootenays, “Within the White Sphere”. This present options the pictures of Rossland’s Taylor Clark and will likely be on show on the VISAC January 12 to February 12. Within the White Sphere is a photographic exploration of the Red Mountain Ski Patrol—those that quietly transfer via shadowed dawns, wind-lashed ridgelines, and avalanche paths in service of mountain security. This sequence pulls again the veil on a hardly ever seen world: the place danger is routine, magnificence will be brutal, and the road between management and chaos is etched in layers of unstable snow.
Through a mixture of stark panorama, candid portraiture, and action-infused frames, Within the White Sphere captures the bodily and emotional weight of stewardship in excessive environments. Photographer Clark states, “My intent is to seize the uncooked vitality of journey and the quiet energy of mountain environments. I’m drawn to moments of movement, grit, and stillness—the place human presence meets huge, untamed landscapes. Through this work, I intention to evoke each the bodily depth and religious depth of time spent in these wild locations.
