Obituary for Priscilla Anne (Hamp) Ogata

Priscilla Anne (Hamp) Ogata, 80, of Staunton, IL – previously of Champaign, IL, handed away at 12:10 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Staunton Health & Rehab Center in Staunton, IL.  She was born February 27, 1945 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of the late Leroy & Elizabeth (Spooner) Hamp.  She married Kent “K.C.” Ogata Jr. & he preceded her in demise.

Priscilla was a loyal spouse & mom.  She was very lively in her kids’s lives, volunteering with faculty occasions & organizations, ensuring cookies have been baked, garments have been prepared, uniforms have been washed, & everybody was at follow on time.  She was an avid gardener, an unimaginable prepare dinner, a gifted seamstress, & a lover of animals, particularly the various canines & cats she cared for all through her life.

She is survived by three daughters –  Bitsy Ogata,  Karyn (Colin) Jones,  &  Margaret Varty;  two sons –  Clay (Carmin) Ogata,  &  B.J. (Maria) Ogata;  eleven grandchildren –  Kelsey Ogata,  Lillie Barnes Ogata,  Tripp Ogata,  Payton Jones,  Audrey Jones,  Sarah Jones,  Stephen Varty,  Roman Varty,  E. Paul Varty,  Ellie Ogata,  &  Thomas Ogata;  two sisters –  Maribeth Miles  &  Judy Parker;  one brother –  John (Jeri) Hamp;  two sisters-in-law –  Carole (Wally) King  &  Jayne Ogata (Matt Bernstein);  a number of nieces & nephews additionally survive.  Besides her husband & dad and mom, she was preceded in demise by one sister –  Ellen (John) Adams.
