“We’re expecting about 50,000 departing passengers over an 11-day period next week, starting on Thursday before spring break, moving to Sunday, the last day of spring break before everybody goes back to school on Monday,” stated Andy Moore, the airport director of the Frederick Douglas Greater International Airport.

Moore stated passengers shouldn’t count on lengthy waits at safety.

“Yeah, we are not impacted by any shutdown or anything along those lines that you see on national media and social media at other airports across New York State or across the country,” continued Moore.

Moore says passengers spend a median of 20 minutes in line.

Though Rochester’s airport is far smaller than the extra main northeast hubs like Boston, Philadelphia, and New York City.

“We have private screeners here in Rochester, where they’re contracted through TSA, so they don’t work for the county or the airport through the screen partnership program with TSA; we’re one of 20 airports across the country that enjoy the benefit,” stated Moore.
