New documentary chronicles Griffey’s work as a photographer

Ken Griffey Jr. is finest identified for his iconic swing that produced 630 house runs over a legendary 22-year Hall of Fame profession.

But nowadays, the previous Seattle Mariners famous person is honing a unique craft.

An upcoming documentary, titled “Photographer No. 24,” will chronicle Griffey’s expertise capturing the 2025 Masters as a credentialed photographer for Getty Images. Griffey made headlines final spring for a few of the images he took whereas capturing the famed event at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

The documentary premiers subsequent Sunday, April 5, at 10 a.m. on NBC and Peacock. It comes out the week of the 2026 Masters, which is April 9-12.

“I get some doors opened because of who I am, but I take what I do very seriously,” Griffey mentioned in a recent trailer for the documentary.

Griffey, who spent 13 seasons with the Mariners from 1989-99 and 2009-10, has photographed quite a lot of different sporting occasions along with the Masters – together with NFL, MLB and MLS video games. Earlier this month, he was shooting the World Baseball Classic for Getty.

Griffey isn’t the one former Mariners star who has taken up images. Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson, who studied photojournalism at USC, is now a professional photographer whose work has been featured in publications similar to Rolling Stone.
