Kenting park officer wins worldwide pictures award

Kenting National Park service technician Yang Jien-fon (楊政峰) gained a silver award in World Grand Prix Photography Awards Spring Season for his {photograph} of two male rat snakes intertwined in fight.

Yang’s colleagues at Kenting National Park stated he’s a grasp of nature pictures who has been held again by his job in civil service.

The awards settle for entries in all 4 seasons throughout six classes: architectural and concrete pictures, black-and-white and superb artwork pictures, industrial and vogue pictures, documentary and other people pictures, nature and experimental pictures, and cellular pictures.

Awards are ranked in accordance with scores and divided into platinum, gold and silver, recognizing the photographers’ observational abilities and potential.

Yang is an achieved author and photographer, having printed a number of books on pure ecology and held solo pictures exhibitions in nationwide parks.

The award-winning picture “Intertwined of two male snakes” was taken in May 2020 on a Canon G12, a compact shopper digicam, Yang stated.

“This photo did not require any staking out or camouflage,” he stated.

While patrolling a hilly space west of Fongchueisha (風吹沙) in Kenting, he unexpectedly noticed two giant male rat snakes fiercely combating over territory in a pond, he stated.

The two rat snakes, that are non-venomous and might develop as much as 2m lengthy, have been tightly entwined, resembling the taut twists of a braid, Yang stated.
