The Latino Photography Project, launched in 2003, was a solution to GRO’s query: How will we interact creatively with the twenty per cent of the West Marin inhabitants who’re Latino? It started with a pictures/literacy class taught by Luz Elena Castro which led to yearly exhibitions round a documentary theme.

Over the next years, the category has taken on the problems of the immigrant expertise, Main Street, housing, sustainability, bridge-building, meals and tradition, and the setting. Working with instructors Todd Pickering and Rosa Rodriguez, members have been impressed to share their observations of childhood; the id related to being born and raised on a ranch; private self-reflection; the facets of Mexican tradition that was carried with them of their hearts to wherever they presently stay; the important significance of household life; and a deep and abiding sense of spirituality and reverence for God’s creation.
