Mickle Guard Start Program

This is a free program!

Ages: 16-18 year-olds

Dates: April 28–May 21

Program size: 4 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5-7 p.m.

Program Information

The City of Gainesville’s Guard Start Program is designed to introduce youth to lifeguarding and put together them for future employment with the town. Participants will construct the swimming power, rescue consciousness, and confidence wanted to achieve a lifeguard certification course. Through ability improvement, teamwork, and water security coaching, they’ll get a first-hand take a look at what it means to work as a lifeguard. Guard Start is step one on the pathway towards lifeguard certification—and probably becoming a member of the town’s lifeguard group.

Pre-requisite swim take a look at:

  • 100 yard swim
  • 1-minute unaided float/tread

All contributors ought to deliver their snacks, goggles, sunscreen, tennis footwear, socks, towel and swimsuit.

Denim shorts or cut-offs aren’t allowed to be worn within the water.
