I like how science images competitions typically deliver collectively distinctive images from an array of disciplines, be it wildlife, macro images, or landscapes, and encourage photographers to seize our world in an extremely inventive approach.

The Beaker Street Science Photography Prize isn’t any exception, and this year’s finalist images were recently shortlisted. The competitors is a part of the broader Beaker Street Festival, Lutruwita’s (Tasmania’s) annual celebration of science and tradition, with judges attempting to find pictures highlighting how science “shapes our understanding of the world”.

Among my favorites of the finalists is Bows And Blows, captured by Saskia Sparshott. A mesmerizing seascape shot layered with depth, the body begins with rock swimming pools within the foreground, crashing waves within the midground, and a vibrant double rainbow within the background.
