State Games of Tennessee pickleball event underway in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – The State Games of Tennessee pickleball event is underway on the Westwood Recreation Center and Conger Park, with matches operating by Sunday.

Pickleball is a fast-paced competitors that’s simple to choose up, with gamers of all ages taking to the courtroom.

Gavin Crawford, a participant who began enjoying in highschool, stated he received into the game on a whim.

“I was in high school I got bored one day and I was like, uh, there’s pickleball. So let’s go try it out, which was my freshman year of high school. So, I’ve been playing for a while,” Crawford stated.

Andrew Brimm, a pickleball participant, began throughout the pandemic.

“I started playing six years ago during covid. So, I played in my driveway,” Brimm stated.

The sport is fast and aggressive, and doesn’t take lengthy to be taught.

“Pickleball is very fun, it’s addicting. That’s what a lot of people will say, it’s more addicting. Other than that I don’t really know. I mean, I just find it fun. It’s fun a lot of times. It makes me think a lot, and I like thinking a lot, so,” Crawford stated.

Other State Games occasions are going down this weekend. A path 5K at Pugh Bourne Park is scheduled for Saturday, and a highway 5K downtown is scheduled for Sunday. Basketball competitions, together with a three-point contest and different youth occasions, run by Sunday.

“State games was always ran well. It’s very fun, and then just get out here with your local people and have fun,” Crawford stated.
