James Fike, Founding father of Fike Swim, Breaks USMS 50 Breast 45-49 Record in 29.08

In the prelims on the Texas Senior Circuit Meet on the campus of Texas A&M University, Fike Swim founder James Fike downed the USMS National Record within the males’s 50 Breaststroke within the 45-49 age group, clocking 29.08.

Fike’s time topped the almost four-year-old file beforehand held by Jeff Commings in 29.29.

Fike shared his swim on Instagram, sharing that his time would even have been an AQUA Masters World Record, although the meet was not sanctioned for world data.

Fike would later go on to compete within the finals of the occasion, ending sixth general in 29.29, which might have matched Commings’ now former American file time.

The present 50 breast AQUA Masters World Record stands at 29.22, set by Hideaki Togo of Japan in September of 2019.

Back in May, Fike was even sooner; whereas competing on the MAC Senior Meet in Mansfield, Texas, Fike raced the 50 breast within the finals, ending fifth in 29.03, which was as soon as once more unofficially a world file time.
