Swimming Advisories Issued for Nine Ocean View Beaches in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Department of Public Health has issued swimming advisories for 9 Ocean View Beaches in Norfolk: East Community Beach, twenty first Bay, fifth Bay, Capeview Ave, North Community Beach, Ocean View Park, Sarah Constant, tenth View and thirteenth View. Water testing performed yesterday revealed that enterococci ranges at these websites exceeded State Water Quality Standards. Signs have been posted to alert the general public of this advisory. Health officers will proceed testing seashore water, take away posted indicators, and notify the general public when micro organism ranges lower to fulfill state requirements.

The Environmental Health Division of the Norfolk Department of Public Health samples Ocean View seashore water on a weekly foundation, through the swimming season, from late May by means of mid-September. Enterococci micro organism are a bunch of indicator organisms used to find out the extent of fecal contamination in leisure waters.
