Obituary for Vance “Hobo” Moore

Vance “Hobo” Moore, age 73, of Morristown, handed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at his residence. Vance retired after a few years as a devoted driver with Old Dominion Freight Line, a profession he took delight in. According to Vance, he was one of the best driver on the highway, and that confidence was simply a part of who he was. Vance was a easy man who loved drag racing and by no means pretended to be anybody else and also you at all times knew the place you stood with him. He spoke his thoughts, valued honesty, and earned respect from these round him from being real. Beneath his straight ahead nature was a loyal buddy who by no means met a stranger. He was at all times dedicated to his beloved canine, Molly and Hatchet, who have been trustworthy companions. He was preceded in loss of life by his spouse, Joyce Ann Moore; mother and father, Clister and Mabel Moore; and brother, Steve Moore. He is survived by his youngsters, Cherra (Chris) Moore, Amy (Cameron) Hawk, and Joe (Tori) Moore; brother, Wayne (Kathie) Moore; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and lots of particular buddies. The household will obtain buddies from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, August fifth at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral providers will observe at 8 p.m. with Rev. Donnie McNabb and Doyle Byrd officiating. Family and buddies will meet on the funeral dwelling at 10:30 to go in procession for an 11 a.m. graveside service on Thursday, August sixth at Morelock Cemetery.
