Band Day brings music to Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair

Olivia McDougall, a saxophonist within the Gouverneur Band, mentioned the environment is what attracts her in.

“We’re just, we all have such a loving band, and it’s just so much fun to like, all be together on band day and just perform for everybody,” McDougall mentioned.

Chase Coombs, a drummer with the Thousand Islands-General Brown Band, credited his instructor and fellow band members.

“The people here are awesome. Mrs. Wiley’s a great teacher, great coach. That and everyone in the band, you know,” Coombs mentioned.

Less competitors, extra neighborhood

Students mentioned watching the opposite bands carry out provides to the relaxed really feel of the day. Rowan Burt, a member of the Gouverneur Band, mentioned the occasion feels extra like enjoyable than a contest.

“I like seeing the other bands perform because it felt less like a competition and more like something just fun to do,” Burt mentioned.

For Joseph Hernandez, a member of the Gouverneur Band, it was his first Band Day.

“The friends we’ve made along the way from other schools, and watching them play is pretty fun,” Hernandez mentioned.

Levi Hopper, with the TIGB Band, summed it up.

“It’s fun, it’s just fun,” he mentioned.
