Scott Returns to Stanford Workers – Stanford Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. — Longtime Stanford assistant Alec Scott is becoming a member of the Stanford males’s swimming and diving program full-time within the newly created Skip Kenney Assistant Coach place.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Alec into this role. Those close to the program know this has been a long time coming,” mentioned Dan Schemmel. “Alec has given countless hours, shared his knowledge and experience, and most importantly, has been a fantastic mentor to our student-athletes. He has played a crucial role in our success over the past seven years, and I’m extremely grateful we now have the opportunity to have him with us full-time.”

No stranger to Stanford, Scott has been a volunteer assistant with the boys’s swimming and diving program since 2019. He’s seen the Cardinal land 5 consecutive top-10 finishes on the NCAA Championships and has helped produce properly over 60 All-Americans on The Farm. He’s labored carefully with three Olympians up to now few years alone: Andrei Minakov, Ron Polonsky, and Jonathan Tan.

At Alto Swim Club in Palo Alto, Scott has been on workers since 2018 and is among the Lead Coaches for the National Group. He’s helped over 110 swimmers to Junior National Cuts and 5 Olympic Trials {qualifications}. The group has earned 9 sectional titles and gained the 2019 USA Swimming National Championship.

“It is a dream come true for me to be joining the Stanford men’s swimming and diving program in a full-time capacity,” Scott said. “I am incredibly grateful for the trust and confidence of Dan, Mike, and the team, and I am really excited to see what we can accomplish together!”

Scott beforehand coached on the University of Alabama and the University of Northern Colorado. At Northern Colorado, Scott helped the Bears win three WAC convention championships, obtain 4 NCAA ‘B” qualifying standards, break seven school records, and produce 14 podium finishes at the conference championships.

Scott previously served as a volunteer assistant at Alabama for the 2016-17 season, helping the Crimson Tide earn 33 All-America honors and seven school records.

In 2016, Scott graduated from Alabama with a bachelor’s diploma in journalism. Scott started his collegiate swimming profession at Indian River State College earlier than transferring to Alabama, the place he completed his collegiate profession with the Crimson Tide.
