REEF Opens 2026 Discover the Sea Underwater Photography Contest

Jane’s lifelong love for the ocean started in childhood and has formed the course of her life and profession. After studying to dive in 1991, she spent a lot of the ’90s instructing scuba and dealing on marine conservation tasks within the Philippines and Borneo. An opportunity encounter with a movie digicam on a dive journey to Egypt in 2001 ignited a ardour for underwater pictures, inspiring her to go away the company world and pursue a full-time profession in dive journey and photojournalism.

Since then, her work has been revealed in a variety of nationwide and worldwide magazines, books, and newspapers. She has filmed underwater for the BBC, judged main pictures competitions, and acquired quite a few accolades—together with the distinguished Plongeur d’Or on the Festival Mondial de l’Image Sous-Marine. In 2009, Jane turned a contract photojournalist, and in 2011 accomplished a BA (Hons) in Marine and Natural History Photography at Falmouth University, the place she now works as a Dive Safety Officer.

Based in Cornwall, Jane dives regionally year-round and is obsessed with showcasing the wealthy marine life present in UK waters. As a proud ambassador for Dynamic Nord and Fathoms Free, she actively helps marine conservation initiatives and advocates for ocean safety by her storytelling.

In her latest position with Scubaverse, Jane combines her love of journey, diving, and storytelling—sharing experiences from all over the world to encourage others to discover, shield, and join with the underwater world.
