Women’s and Men’s Swimming and Diving Teams First in Potomac Relays

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason ladies’s and males’s swimming and diving groups opened the 2026-27 season on Friday within the Potomac Relays on the Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Facing groups from American, Howard, Marymount and Mary Washington, each the Patriots’ males’s (342 factors) and girls’s (354 factors) groups completed first.

The Patriots’ ladies’s group received eight occasions and completed with 354 factors.  Howard was second with 302 factors, adopted by American (294), Mary Washington (272), and Marymount (114).

The George Mason males’s group took the highest spot in six occasions and completed with 342 factors.  Howard was second (318), adopted by American (286), Mary Washington (270) and Marymount (232).

On the ladies’s facet, junior Sophie Scadron, sophomore Sidney Kaufman and freshmen Hadleigh Kulas and Bella Lorack received the 200-yard medley relay to begin the meet (1:43.84).

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the group of senior Sarah Dichak, sophomores Alexis Brazier and Madelyn Able, and freshman Mary Boone took the highest spot (7:45.29).

Freshman Haley Edenberg, Scadron and Lorack swam to victory within the 3X100 butterfly relay (2:52.19).  Senior Casey Tingen, junior Greta Mott and Kaufman mixed for a first-place end within the 3X100 backstroke relay (2:53.40).  In the 3X100 breaststroke relay, the group of senior Kristen Ivey, sophomore Landry Liston and Kulas touched the wall first (3:19.28). 

Tingen, Liston, Abel, and Ivey received the 4X100 medley relay (4:01.41), whereas Boone and Brazier joined forces to assert the 2X500 freestyle relay (10:29.30).

In the ultimate occasion of the day, senior Hannah Magdeburg, Lorack, Scadron and Tingen touched the wall first by simply over a second (1:35.46).

Mary Boone, McKenna Carswell, Peyton Cleary, Nora David, Haley Edenberg, Hadleigh Kulas, Bella Lorack, Samantha Riggen and Taylor Toth every made their collegiate debut.

On the lads’s facet, the mixture of graduate pupil Aoun Al-Hiari, senior Ian Rodgers, junior Gabriel Miller and freshman Eric Koler received the 200-yard medley relay (1:30.38). 

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, senior Alex Crown, sophomore Derek Dykman, and freshmen Maximus Gelinas and Maddox Matyas touched the wall first by greater than 10 seconds (6:53.94).

Senior Anthony Garono, freshman Harris Abernathy and Rodgers teamed as much as win the 3X100 backstroke relay (2:33.42). 

In the 500-yard freestyle relay, the group of Miller, Gelinas, Dykman and Crown earned the highest spot (4:04.44).  Graduate pupil Brent Hinckley and Matyas mixed to win the 2X500 freestyle relay (9:40.07).

The Patriots concluded the meet with a first-place end within the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Rodgers, Miller, Al-Hiari and freshman Brady Zink handing over a time of 1:22.65.

Harris Abernathy, Jacob Anderson, Maximus Gelinas, Isaac Harter, Eric Koler, Lucas Landers, Maddox Matyas, Tommy Watson and Brady Zink every made the collegiate debut, whereas Brent Hinckley made his Patriots debut.

The Patriots journey to face Old Dominion on Friday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. at Chandler Pool in Norfolk, Va.
