On December 5, a group of eleven swimmers from Uvalde High School collaborated to secure eighth place in the San Antonio ISD Invitational #2 team standings.

The Uvalde swimmers faced off against 243 competitors representing 16 other high schools in the San Antonio region.

Alicia Teague achieved fourth place for UHS in the women’s 500-yard freestyle event, recording a time of 7:19.63.

Additionally, Teague finished eighth in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke.

The male Uvalde relay team composed of Brandon Bueno, Justus McKeon, Marcos Besares, and Garrett Alderson took 10th place overall in the men’s 200-yard medley relay.

They clocked a time of 2:27.58, setting a new school record and improving their previous best by 10 seconds.

Justus McKeon came in 10th for the men‘s 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:04.03.

Garrett Alderson secured 16th in the men’s 100-yard freestyle with his finishing time.

Dameian Esqueda finished in 11th place in the men’s 500-yard freestyle event.

The UHS women’s relay team of Amberly Wiebrand, Abigail Sonora, Mayumi Montiel, and Alicia Teague achieved 11th place overall in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The next event for the UHS swim team is scheduled for January 11, where they will compete in the San Antonio Northside Invitational.
