In this position, you will be accountable for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as detailed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR), along with providing personal and general nursing care to residents as necessary or assigned.

Position Summary

  • Accountable for the safe dispensing of medications, ensuring the 6 rights of medication administration are adhered to.
  • Count and record all narcotics administered to residents.
  • Manage the overall inventory of medications within the community; including but not limited to ordering, receiving and verifying medications, organizing and dating medications, discarding expired or discontinued medications, and alerting the appropriate parties when medication stock is low.
  • Identify any inconsistencies in medication inventory and report to the relevant parties.
  • Responsible for the daily sanitation of all medicine carts at the end of shifts and replenishing supplies as required. In charge of weekly thorough cleaning of all med carts.
  • Tasked with confirming all existing MARs are matched against new MARs during transition periods.
  • Provide personal care assistance to residents when necessary, including bathing, skincare, oral care, grooming, dressing, incontinence management, and feeding.
  • Offer general nursing care which includes, but is not limited to, monitoring vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Record pertinent information in the daily log as necessary.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a senior care environment.
  • You must hold a state-specific Medication Technician certification.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
