Aquatic Excellence: Dominating Dual Victory Against Old Dominion!

The Central Connecticut State swimming and diving squad triumphed over Old Dominion University 156-139 in competitive dual meet action on Saturday morning at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. The Blue Devils engaged in a four-team dual, experiencing losses of 205-90 to William & Mary and 225-74 to East Carolina University.

While en route to their annual winter training trip in the south, the Blue Devils will return next weekend for a two-day dual against Sacred Heart. The Pioneers will host on Saturday at 12:30, with the Blue Devils holding the second day on Sunday, January 19^th at Suydam Natatorium at noon.

STROKES

• Katrine O’Leary recorded a time of 1:00.50 in the 100 backstroke, securing eighth place, while Megan Dunnigan finished 11^th with a time of 1:00.96
• Grace Young achieved eighth place in the 100 breaststroke, swimming 1:08.65
• Sophie Milhomens obtained seventh place in the 200 butterfly, with a swim time of 2:13.89
• Milhomens came in fifth in the 200 backstroke, completing the race in 2:07.38, while Dunnigan finished 10^th at 2:12.04
• Young claimed sixth place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:28.98, and Veronica Okurowski finished ninth at 2:35.52
• Lauryn Cowing achieved first for the team in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.56, placing eighth
• Gabi Wroblewski secured fourth place in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 2:11.21, while Milhomens placed eighth with a time of 2:15.46

FREESTYLE

• Abbey Keane secured third place in the 1000, with a swim time of 10:41.38, while Maggie Rutledge finished in fifth at 10:50.93
• Gabby Spaciano was the leading finisher for CCSU in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:57.80 for a fourth-place finish
• O’Leary led the 50 freestyle crew with a ninth-place finish, touching the wall at 25.48, while Lauryn Cowing clocked 25.56, earning 11th place
• Spaciano placed eighth for the Blue Devils in the 100 free, completing it in 54.88
• Rutledge was the top Blue Devil in the 500 free, finishing in 5:14.48 for fourth, with Keane finishing seventh in 5:18.21

DIVING

• Zoe Baker achieved second place in the 3-meter diving event, accumulating 254.60 points
• Kaitlyn Carroll scored 216.45 points on the 3-meter, securing fourth place
• Baker took third on the 1-meter board, earning 232.65 points, while Carroll was fourth with 209.63

RELAYS

• Milhomens (28.17), Young (31.08), Cowing (26.50) and O’Leary (24.59) formed the fifth fastest relay team in the opening 200 medley, touching in at 1:50.34
• The 400 freestyle relay team comprising Spaciano (54.88), Cowing (54.70), O’Leary (54.24) and Dunnigan (54.85) secured fourth place with a combined time of 3:38.67
