MSU Board Critiques Progress and Campus Transformation | Morehead State University

Prefontaine Hall

Construction on Prefontaine Hall is progressing and on schedule for a Fall 2026 opening. “The building structure is primarily made of Insulated Concrete Forms, or structural foam forms stacked up and filled with reinforcing rods and concrete to create the exterior wall system,” Oatman stated. “Construction of interior walls and systems is underway, and the geothermal system installation for this project will begin this summer.”

Science & Engineering Building

The Science & Engineering constructing progress continues with a goal schedule for a Fall 2027 opening. Oatman stated drilled piers have been lately accomplished, and the concrete foundations and subsurface partitions are in progress. “Major utility work around the site is ongoing, which has resulted in street closures,” he stated. “This utility work is anticipated to be completed before the beginning of the upcoming fall semester.”

New Residence Hall (title TBD)

A second new residence corridor begins building in August. The new corridor will change Normal Hall, which has been razed. This residence corridor is ready to open in Spring 2027.

Vet Tech Building Renovation & Addition

Building upgrades are scheduled for completion in December 2025. The renovated portion of the prevailing constructing needs to be accomplished earlier than the autumn semester begins, and the outside addition portion will probably be accomplished earlier than the spring 2026 semester. Multidisciplinary Academic Building
