CAC Gallery showcases Al Tucker’s West Virginia pictures by means of February

The Colonial Arts Center Gallery is presenting “My Photo Finish,” a solo pictures exhibition by Buckhannon resident Al Tucker, on show by means of Saturday, February 28.

An artist reception can be held Friday, February 6 from 5-7 p.m., with an artist speak at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments can be offered. The CAC Gallery is open from 4-8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. All gallery occasions are free and open to the general public.

Tucker’s journey to pictures got here late in life — a life that spanned early years in England, service within the U.S. Air Force and a profession in engineering.

Born in England, Tucker immigrated to America together with his household in 1954, settling in New Martinsville at age 11. He graduated from West Virginia University with an engineering diploma and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant within the United States Air Force. His navy service took him to assignments throughout the U.S. and to Southeast Asia, Germany and the Pentagon through the first Gulf War.

In 2004, Tucker retired and settled in Buckhannon together with his spouse, Liva. He had deliberate a retirement of golf, fishing and journey, sprinkled with group work by means of Rotary and his church.

But turning 70, he realized there was extra to provide — and golf had misplaced its enchantment. That’s when he fell in love with pictures.

From 2012 till mid-October 2020, Tucker threw himself into the craft, specializing in West Virginia landscapes and nature.
