Towns Talk About Milli-Fest: A Weekend of Fun, Food, and Community Spirit – The Decaturian

Get prepared, Millikin. Milli-Fest is taking up campus for a weekend filled with neighborhood, creativity, and connection. 

Hosted and arranged totally by Millikin college students, the competition turns scholar concepts into real-world enjoyable for all ages.

“I think it’s a great event for the community to come and see,” Amy Taute, Director of Alumni Engagement, stated. “Here’s a learning opportunity; if you’re a student, you can have a real-world experience to kind of create something… They really thought of everything.”

Friday: Movie Night on the Quad

The festivities kick off on Friday, April seventeenth, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with Movie Night on the Quad. 

Families can sprawl out underneath the celebs with blankets and garden chairs to look at Monsters University. Alongside the large display screen, get pleasure from meals vans, distributors, video games, and a children’ craft zone. 

Plus free treats for everybody.

It’s the right probability to calm down after an extended week, seize a snack, and luxuriate in actions for all ages.

Saturday: The Main Event

The enjoyable continues Saturday, April 18th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with practically 40 distributors able to discover. 

Think of native artisans, scrumptious meals vans catering to each craving, and hands-on actions for youths. From “Touch-a-Truck” pleasure to assembly native authors and influencers, it’s a full day of small-town appeal and large power.

And when the solar units, the celebration doesn’t cease. 

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Millikin college students and their college-aged friends are invited to a college-themed occasion that includes video games, take-home presents, free meals tickets for the primary 50 friends, and sure, there will likely be a mechanical bull.

“[I am] definitely [excited for] the mechanical bull,” Millikin scholar Leah Flint stated. “[I’ve] never been on one; [it] looks really fun, and I hope it brings college kids in.”

More Than Just an Event

Milli-Fest isn’t nearly meals and enjoyable. It’s about constructing neighborhood.

“We sell what a college experience is to families every day,” Molly Berry, Interim Vice President of Admission and Student Affairs, stated. “It’s about campus environment. That’s part of the promise we make is that campus culture is thriving… Culture to find belonging and stay.”

A Celebration for Everyone

Whether you come for film night time, the seller market, or the school bash, Milli-Fest has one thing for everybody.

“It’s free, it’s fun, it’s the perfect end of the year thing,” Berry stated.
