Redbird Swim & Dive Hosts Award Banquet Monday Night

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swim & dive program hosted its award banquet Monday night to spotlight this system’s accomplishments for the 2025-26 marketing campaign.

Throughout the banquet, a number of Redbirds earned awards for his or her contributions all through the season. The award winners are listed under:

• Most Valuable Swimmer/Diver Award – “Presented to the athlete who demonstrated the highest level of performance and leadership throughout the season. This athlete consistently rose to the occasion in competition, elevated those around them, and embodied what it meant to be a teammate. Their contributions both in and out of the water were invaluable to the success of the program.”
  
  
• Most Improved Award – “Presented to the athlete who showed the greatest growth over the course of the season. Through hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to getting better every day, this athlete transformed challenges into breakthroughs. Their improvement is a testament to what is possible when talent meets relentless effort.”
  
• Newcomer of the Year – “Presented to the first-year athlete who made an immediate impact on this program, whether it was in competition, in the locker room, or at practice, this athlete hit the ground running and showed from day one that they belonged. Their arrival made this team better, and the best is still ahead of them.”
  
• Legacy Award – “Presented to an outgoing senior who has left a lasting mark on this program. Over the course of their career, this athlete gave everything to this team, not only in competition, but in the culture they helped build, and the example they set for every athlete who came after them.”
  
• Redbird Spirit Award – “Presented to the athlete who best represents the heart and soul of Redbird Swim & Dive. This athlete brought energy, positivity, and passion to every practice and meet. They were the first to celebrate a teammate’s success and the last to give up when things get hard, and the reason that this team feels like a family.”
