For the 2026 summer time months, Camp Marymount will provide various camps for girls and boys who’re rising first- by Eleventh-grade college students.

Camp Marymount’s roots attain again to 1939 when it was named Camp Happy Hollow in Joelton, a small Catholic residential camp owned by the Diocese of Nashville. In the autumn of 1945, the late Msgr. George Rohling bought a 147-acre fishing camp in Fairview. Renamed Camp Marymount in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it was the proper location to increase the diocese’s mission of instilling in its youth a faith-filled love of nature. Summer upon summer time since, a whole bunch of younger campers descend upon this rolling, wooded expanse of pristine Middle Tennessee soil to expertise and respect God’s pure items. And hundreds have returned residence with shared reminiscences that formed their lives.

Camp Marymount is at the moment registering campers and hiring workers for its 2026 summer time packages. As the one Catholic sleepaway camp within the Diocese of Nashville, campers develop by every day prayer, residing their religion, and constructing independence, confidence, and lasting group. Programs encompass conventional summer time camp actions in a healthful Catholic setting.

“What excites me most is seeing campers experience the timeless traditions of Marymount: swimming in the lake, archery on the range, horsemanship, campfires, and the kind of unplugged outdoor adventure that feels deeply American,” stated Oliver Arney, govt director of Camp Marymount. “As our country approaches the America 250 celebration, Camp Marymount is a place where that spirit of Americana is still alive with young people learning independence, community, and love of the outdoors in the same hills that have hosted campers for generations.”

This summer time will mark the primary for Arney since taking up his new position in October 2025.

“Stepping into my first few months as executive director at Camp Marymount has been both humbling and energizing. This place has shaped generations of young people, and our goal is to ensure it continues to do so for the next 100 years,” Arney stated. “That’s why we launched Revamp the Camp, a serious initiative targeted on restoring and strengthening the amenities that make Marymount such a particular place. At the identical time, we’ve refreshed our summer time session construction to raised serve households and reply to rising demand.

“It’s been encouraging to see that momentum already. Our girls session is almost completely waitlisted, and we’re continuing to welcome more boys to join us this summer,” he continued.

Along with a revamp of amenities and packages, Camp Marymount can even reclaim a historic partnership as three seminarians of the Diocese of Nashville will be part of the camp workers this summer time.

“Camp Marymount is such a gem for our diocese, and it is an incredible opportunity for us in the Office of Vocations to partner with them for a summer assignment for a few of our seminarians,” stated Father Luke Wilgenbusch, director of Vocations. “A great summer camp can be an incredibly formative experience for a young person, and it is a real gift to be able to invite the seminarians into that environment to walk with the campers and share the light of Christ with them. Our diocese has a long tradition of sending seminarians to Camp Marymount, and I am excited to see that historic partnership reignited.”
