Field of Frames Festival rebrands as Great Lakes Gaming Convention for second 12 months

MIDLAND, Mich. (WNEM) — Field of Frames Festival returns for a second 12 months because the Great Lakes Gaming Convention. It’s a two-day esports and gaming competition designed to carry gamers, followers, college students, educators, creators and trade professionals collectively.

The occasion shall be held Sept. 26-27 at Dow Diamond. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, June 24, at 9 a.m.

“We’re expected to bring the Great Lakes Gaming Convention to Dow Diamond in 2026 and continue building an event that celebrates gaming, esports and community in a truly unique way,” stated GLGC Executive Director Eric Ramseyer. “Our first festival provided tremendous insight into what fans and players are looking to experience, and we’re excited to apply those lessons as we expand and elevate the event in year two.”

Beginning this 12 months, GLGC may even companion with Northwood University’s esports program.

“After the success of the inaugural year, we’re excited to elevate the experience even further and bring an even larger celebration of gaming, technology and community to Dow Diamond in downtown Midland,” Justin Marshall, chief growth and engagement officer for Northwood University, stated. “This event represents the future of entertainment and digital innovation in our region, and we’re proud to help create something truly special for gaming community.”

The occasion will function the next organized tournaments and aggressive play:

• Rocket League Collegiate Invitational ($5,000 prize pool)
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Collegiate Crews ($2,500 prize pool)
• Rocket League High School Invitational ($5,000 SVSU scholarships/$1,500 prize pool)
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Open ($2,500 prize pool)
• Mario Kart World Open ($750 prize pool)
• MLB The Show 26 Open ($750 prize pool)

GLGC may even function the next buying and selling card recreation and tabletop recreation areas:

• Pokémon Open ($250 minimal prize pool)
• Casual open-play tables
• Learn-to-play classes for brand spanking new gamers
• Vendor cubicles that includes playing cards, equipment and memorabilia

There may even be instructional alternatives targeted on the quickly rising gaming and esports industries, a youngsters zone with face portray, balloon animals and inflatables, and FIRST Robotics demonstrations.
