Phoenix pub to open early for World Cup video games

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A 31-year-old English pub in central Phoenix is hoping to be the go-to spot for soccer followers through the World Cup.

George and Dragon can be opening early to host the video games on massive screens. The World Cup kicks off with Mexico taking up South Africa.

Pub proprietor David Wimberley is making his pitch to followers, saying the ambiance can be like being within the stadiums the place the matches are kicking off, with followers from throughout the nation coming to root for his or her staff.

“I promise you, you won’t be disappointed,” Wimberley stated. “The minute you walk in the door, I’ve had so many people tell me over the years, they walk in the door and they go, ‘Wow, I feel like I’m in England.’ Or, I mean, they walk in the atmosphere, the people are singing songs. It’s just, there’s nothing like it.”

Wimberley stated they’re anticipating massive crowds, with their hottest menu objects accessible through the video games.
