Greater Govanhill contributor Sadia Sikandar wins worldwide images award — Greater Govanhill

Speaking about her newest success, Sadia mentioned: “I feel truly blessed. It was a dream that has finally come true. As a refugee in Scotland, I am proud to have represented Scotland on an international platform.”

The award comes as Sadia prepares to launch her new Refugee Week exhibition, Stories of Food and Belonging, which explores tradition, identification, belonging and neighborhood by means of images.

Reflecting this 12 months’s Refugee Week theme of Courage, the exhibition makes use of meals, cultural gown and images to share private tales from refugee and asylum-seeking communities throughout Scotland, celebrating the richness and variety they create to communities throughout the nation.
