Updated Restrictions on U.S. Mission Travel to Adana Consular District (U.S. Mission Türkiye, June 23, 2026)

Location: Southeastern Türkiye

Event: Effective June 13, 2026, the U.S. Department of State licensed the termination of Ordered Departure for U.S. Consulate Adana, which had been carried out on March 9, 2026.  Eligible Family Members and non-emergency U.S. direct rent workers who had been evacuated from Consulate Adana are anticipated to return to submit.  Consulate Adana’s district covers Türkiye’s 22 southeasternmost provinces.

Travel Restrictions for U.S. Government Personnel

Some areas in southeastern Türkiye stay Restricted Travel Areas for U.S. authorities personnel beneath Chief of Mission authority.  These personnel are instructed to keep away from journey to:

  • The complete provinces of Şırnak and Hakkari, together with any areas inside 10 km (6 miles) of the Iraqi border; and
  • Any areas inside 10 km (6 miles) of the Syrian border.

Do not journey inside 10 km (6 miles) of Türkiye’s borders with Syria or Iraq for any purpose, as a result of danger of terrorism and armed battle.

  • There are heightened dangers of anti-Western, particularly anti-U.S. or anti-Israel, sentiment.  There is sustained risk of assaults by terrorist teams.
  • The U.S. authorities has restricted capability to supply emergency providers to Americans within the border areas with Syria and Iraq.  U.S. authorities workers working in Türkiye want particular authorization to journey to those areas.
