Dinos to host 2027 U SPORTS Swimming Championships

CALGARY – The University of Calgary has been named host of the 2027 U SPORTS Swimming Championships, set for March 4-6 on the MNP Community & Sport Centre.

It marks the fourth time the Dinos have hosted the nationwide swimming championships and the primary since 2013.

“Together with our partners at Tourism Calgary and the MNP Community & Sport Centre, we’re very proud to bring the 2027 U SPORTS Swimming Championships to our city,” mentioned UCalgary Director of Athletics Ben Matchett. “It will be an outstanding opportunity for our student-athletes to compete at home while we showcase our city and the recent renovations at the MNP Centre to the rest of the country.”

The Dinos have a storied historical past in U SPORTS swimming, successful 18 nationwide workforce titles – three ladies’s and 15 males’s – since 1980, together with each championships at residence in 2011.

“We were impressed by the quality of the recent U SPORTS Final 8 men’s basketball championship at the University of Calgary, and we know the Dinos Athletics team will host an exceptional event for U SPORTS swimmers in March,” mentioned U SPORTS chief sport officer Matthew Davies.

The swimming championships are the second nationwide occasion awarded to UCalgary for the 2026-27 season, becoming a member of the 2027 U SPORTS Canadian University and Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) curling championships, which the Dinos will co-host alongside the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology from Feb. 22-26 on the Calgary Curling Club.
