Rachel Bloom to Make Broadway Debut in ‘The Imaginary Invalid’

Rachel Bloom will make her Broadway debut in The Imaginary Invalid this fall.

The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star joins the beforehand introduced Bill Irwin, who will tackle the lead function of Argan and who tailored Moliere’s Seventeenth-century comedy about hypochondria. The hypochondriac in query, Argan, comes up with a scheme to marry his daughter to a health care provider to avoid wasting on medical payments, however she fights again. 

Newly introduced solid members embody Dylan Baker (La Bête, The Good Wife), Brooks Ashmanskas (Smash, The Prom), Hiram Delgado (Take Me Out), Crystal A. Dickinson (You Can’t Take It With You), Daniel Croix Henderson (Seven Guitars) and Ava Lalezarzadeh (English).

The play will start preview performances on Sept. 25, forward of an Oct. 22, opening on the Todd Haimes Theatre. The restricted engagement runs by means of Nov. 22. 

While that is the Broadway debut for Bloom, she has beforehand appeared on stage Off-Broadway along with her one-woman present, Death, Let Me Do My Special, and is understood for her musicalized numbers in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a present which she co-created, wrote and starred in.

The play, which was translated by Doug Skinner, options course by Brandon J. Dirden, who might be making his Broadway directorial debut after showing in performing roles together with the latest revival of Waiting for Godot.
