Photographer Captures Dramatic Second Goslings Take 25 Foot Leap Of Religion From Nest

Every spring on the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for the Columbian White-Tailed Deer, new child goslings comply with their dad and mom’ lead and bravely leap from their nests, catapulting themselves into the world.

Last 12 months, refuge supervisor and pictures hobbyist Jake Bonello snapped a number of images of six goslings taking their first flight — and the outcomes had been spectacular.

“These Canada goose goslings had no choice but to commit,” the U.S. Department of the Interior recently wrote in a Facebook post. “Taking a 25-foot leap from their nest platform to join their parents below.”

According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, goslings are born in clutches of round six, hatching after an incubation interval of about 25 days. Once out of their shells, goslings can stroll and swim inside 24 hours.

Though these images might look dramatic and death-defying, wildlife officers know that the goslings are simply high quality.

“Don’t worry, this is perfectly normal,” the U.S. Department of the Interior wrote. “Goslings are incredibly lightweight, and their fluffy down helps cushion the fall.”

Safe with their household, the goslings will be taught vital abilities to arrange them for all times within the wild.

“They’ll spend the rest of the summer sticking close to their parents until they’re ready to take flight on their own,” the U.S. Department of the Interior wrote. “Here’s to making the leap into the weekend.”
