Photographer Captures Day-Previous Goslings Leaping From Their Nest

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has shared a collection of wonderful photos that present six courageous goslings taking a leap of religion.

Jake Bonello is an avid photographer and the refuge supervisor on the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for the Columbian White-tailed Deer, the place he took the photographs.

Each 12 months, the Canada goose goslings should leap from their nesting platform, which is 25 toes within the air, to allow them to be a part of their dad and mom beneath.

The Dodo notes that Canada geese sometimes lay eggs in clutches of roughly six, and after about 25 days of incubation, they’re able to stroll and swim after only a single day.

The goslings seen in these photographs took the leap of religion on April 24, 2025, and they’re going to have spent the summer season sticking near their dad and mom till they’re able to take flight on their very own.

In an interview with USFWS a few years in the past, the photographer Jake Bonello defined that he received into images throughout an eagle tour on the shores of Lake Erie in 2014.

“I decided to take my parents’ camera with me, and by the end of the day we saw over a hundred eagles,” he mentioned. “That’s all it took. I ended up getting a point-and-shoot camera that Christmas, and in 2017, I upgraded to an entry-level DSLR. Today I have an even better DSLR with a 150-600 mm lens, and it never leaves my side.”
