What to know: FIBA World Cup qualifying video games

The USA Men’s World Cup group can transfer nearer to qualifying for the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar with victories towards Chile and Colombia within the subsequent week. The USA performs Chile on Aug. 27 in Santiago and performs Colombia on Aug. 31 in Washington, D.C., within the fourth window of FIBA Americas World Cup qualifying video games.

With six video games remaining in qualifying – the ultimate two home windows are in November and February – the USA is in good place to qualify for subsequent summer time’s World Cup. The USA is 5-1 – its lone loss was 87-79 to the Dominican Republic – and incorporates a group of principally former NBA and G League gamers coached by former NBA coach Terry Stotts.

In the July qualifying window, the USA beat the Dominican Republic 82-81, led by Mike James’ 15 factors and Torrey Craig’s 12 factors, together with the game-winning 3-pointer, and the Americans defeated Mexico 94-93 with Craig scoring 23 factors and James including 19.

The 2027 FIBA World Cup takes place Aug. 27-Sept. 12 in 4 Qatar cities – Doha, Al Rayyan, Lusail and Al Wakrah – and 32 groups will qualify: seven groups from FIBA Americas, seven groups from FIBA Asia/Oceana, 5 groups from FIBA Africa and 12 groups from FIBA Europe. Qatar robotically qualifies because the host nation.
