ABC7 to livestream 2026 Chicago River Swim particular on Sunday, Sept. 20, supporting ALS analysis and youth swim training

CHICAGO (WLS) — ABC7 will livestream the Chicago River Swim on Sunday, Sept. 20 as the town raises funds for ALS analysis and youth swim training.

The Chicago River Swim, introduced by the town of Chicago and Mayor Brandon Johnson, is a charitable open-water occasion held alongside the primary stem of the Chicago River.

Launched in 2025, the inaugural occasion introduced 263 swimmers into the river for Chicago’s first organized open-water swim in 98 years and attracted worldwide consideration to the town’s remodeled waterway.

For 2026, the town expanded the sphere from 500 to 750 certified swimmers, reopening registration for a restricted variety of individuals within the 1- and 2-mile occasions.

Participants will enter the river in small teams all through the morning. Each registered jumper will obtain a private swim buoy, gown, commemorative T-shirt, lunch and a goodie bag. Registration is accessible at chicagoriverswim.org.
