MUSA will host a retrospective of the Catalan photographer Toni Catany

“For the first time, we created an exhibition with an overlap of themes and techniques that would give us an idea of ​​the vital and experimental journey he undertook, not as a technique but as art,” Garau defined at a press convention.
  
The exhibition is made up of a number of sections that vary from the stage by which the artist developed as a photojournalist, his obsession with the passage of time by means of the sequence “Still Life” – with which he started to be acknowledged worldwide in 1987 –, the portraits he product of inhabitants of India and different nations, and even the change he made out of analog to digital pictures.
 
“Because of his self-taught background, he was always impressed by primitive techniques and rediscovered little-known photographers. He never rejected innovations and in 2006 he abandoned analog photography to embrace digital,” Garau emphasised.

Alain D’Hooghe, Vice President of the muse and in addition curator of the exhibition, mentioned that they sought to make “continuous back and forth” about strategies, areas, objects and images, and to foster a “dialogue between the unpublished images and the best known ones”.
 
Laura Ayala Castellanos, the museum’s Coordinator of Exhibitions and Education, mentioned that the exhibition was a collaborative effort with the Ramon Llull Institute, the Toni Catany Foundation, the Catalonia-La Pedrera Foundation, the Government of Catalonia, the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Barcelona City Council, and MUSA, and that it’ll embrace parallel actions open to the general public akin to a lecture and a poetry recital, and the screening of the documentary. Time and issues about his work, in addition to a museum evening.
