“Honorable Mention” Aubrial MacKay Provides the Longhorns Their First Verbal Dedication for 2028-29

Aubrial MacKay from Owosso, Michigan, has introduced her verbal dedication to the University of Texas for 2028-19. She wrote on social media:

“I couldn’t be more excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Texas!! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to go through this process with the support system I did. I’d like to thank God first and foremost. He gave me peace over this decision and I’m overflowing with gratitude for the path He has set before me. I’d also like to thank my family. Thank you Mom for being my biggest supporter. You show me what a woman of God is, and set an example of what sacrifice and determination look like. You are my best friend. Thank you Dad for pushing me and encouraging me. You believed in me far more than I ever did in myself. Also I have so much gratitude for my Grandma and Grandpa who spent countless hours driving me to and from practice. I’d also like to thank my friends for being my biggest fans and my four younger brothers for holding me accountable and making my life a special one. The years we grew up together are ones I hold close to my heart, yet I know we’re still growing and that gives me excitement for the future. Last but not least I’d like to thank my coaches. MacKay is a flexible expertise with Summer Nationals cuts within the 50/100 again and 100/200 fly, and Summer Juniors requirements within the 100 free, 200 again, 50 fly, and 200 IM. A product of OLY Swimming, we thought-about her an “Honorable Mention” recruit on our Way Too Early checklist of high women’ swimmers from the highschool class of 2028.

MacKay swims year-round with OLY Swimming in Ortonville, MI. She makes a speciality of fly, again, and free and is a U.S. Nationals qualifier within the 100 again and 100/200 fly and a Summer Juniors qualifier within the 100 free, 50/200 again, 50 fly, and 200 IM.

At the 2025 Winter Juniors East, she finaled within the 100 again (sixteenth), 100 fly (thirteenth), and 200 fly (tenth), and earned new PBs within the 100 again (53.69), 100 fly (53.33), and 200 fly (1:57.76). Two months later on the OLY Open, she improved her 100 free time to 52.29, her 200 again to 1;57.33, and her 100 fly to 53.09.

MacKay continued to enhance, with instances of 23.12 within the 50 free, 25.14 within the 50 again, 1:56.82 within the 200 fly, and a pair of:01.37 within the 200 IM at NCSA Spring Championships. She kicked off long-course season at Indy Sectionals with PBs throughout the board within the 100 free (58.21), 50 again (28.61), 100 again (1:02.98), 100 fly (1:00.04), 200 fly (2:14.15), and 200 IM (2:20.77). MacKay completed the season with instances of 26.67/57.65/2:06.47 within the 50/100/200 free, 2:21.18 within the 200 again, and 27.77 within the 50 fly.
