The Bridgeport High School swimming squads approach the Christmas week with a surge of enthusiasm.
 
The girls and boys teams collectively triumphed in 16 of 22 events during Friday’s quadrangular competition at The Citynet Center at The Bridge Sports Complex, capturing the team championships.
 
Before that quadrangular event, which included Parkersburg, University, and Philip Barbour, the Indians claimed 13 of 22 events in a dual meet at Elkins, achieving another clean sweep of the team titles.
 
The quadrangular also displayed a total victory for BHS in all six relay competitions.
 
The girls 200 medley relay squad of Kennedy Marsh, Amelia Romano, Emma Ahmed, and Gretchen Lang secured victory with a time of 2:02.88. Olivia Sweeney, Kaitlyn Wagner, Jacie Wood, and Addyson Tharp collaborated to win the 200 free relay in 2:03.04. During the 400 free relay, Marsh, Romano, Ahmed, and Lang teamed up again to achieve first place with a time of 4:06.72.
 
For the boys, Jacob Keener, Cole Parsons, Owen Guthrie, and Nate Dodson completed the 200 medley relay in 1:44.36. Guthrie and Parsons, joined by Oren Sutphin and James Hadjis, clinched the 200 free relay at 1:32.53. Finishing strong was a victory in the 400 free relay with Sutphin, Keener, Dodson, and Hadjis clocking a time of 3:31.79.
 
Ahmed and Romano each clinched wins in their two individual events at the quadrangular. Ahmed achieved a time of 26.31 in the 50 free and recorded 1:05.18 in the 100 butterfly.
 
Romano secured first in the 100 free at 56.96 and the 100 breaststroke at 1:14.46.
 
Tharp added a victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:40.14, and Marsh captured first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:10.62.
 
For the boys, Guthrie emerged victorious in both of his individual races, recording 1:46.41 in the 200 free and 55.49 in the 100 backstroke. Dodson earned a win in the 100 free with a time of 53.32, while Hadjis triumphed in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.95.
 
In Elkins, the boys also dominated all three relays. Keener, Parsons, Sutphin, and Hadjis secured the 200 medley at 1:49.19. Parsons, Sutphin, alongside Guthrie and Dodson won the 200 free at 1:34.68. For the 400 free, Keener, Dodson, Hadjis, and Guthrie finished in first with a time of 3:38.26.
 
Keener and Guthrie each triumphed in two individual events. Keener recorded a winning time of 2:12.77 in the 200 IM and a 1:03.47 in the 100 back. Guthrie secured the 50 free with a time of 21.72 and the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.88.
 
Hadjis provided the Indians with yet another victory, finishing the 500 with a time of 5:33.03.
