Conner Crowned Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week!

FORT WORTH – Madison Conner received an early Christmas surprise.
 
The TCU sharpshooter was named the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday.
 
Conner posted an NCAA-leading average of 28.5 points per game for the week of Dec. 16-22, shooting an impressive 50 percent (13-26) from beyond the arc. She scored more than 20 points in the first half, leading all scorers in both of the 11^th-ranked Horned Frogs’ victories over Samford and UCF with scores of 103-64 and 92-52 respectively.
 
This honor marks the first weekly national player of the week accolade in Conner’s career. She was recognized as Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday.
 
Conner is the third player from TCU’s roster to earn the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week title in the 2024-25 season. Sedona Prince and Hailey Van Lith received this distinction on Dec. 3 following the Horned Frogs’ wins against No. 3 Notre Dame and South Florida in the Cayman Islands Classic.
 
In the game against Samford, Conner achieved 33 points with an 8-16 performance from long range. This was the fifth time she scored 30 points during her two seasons in Fort Worth, surpassing TCU’s all-time leading scorer Lauren Heard to become the program’s record holder for career 30-point games. Notably, Conner accomplished this in just 39 games wearing a TCU uniform.
 
Conner’s contributions on Saturday in Orlando propelled TCU (12-1, 1-0 Big 12) to their largest victory margin in a Big 12 road game, dominating the Knights by 40 points. She contributed 20 of her game-high 24 points during the first half. Finishing 5-10 from beyond the arc, this marked the 12^th occasion as a Frog that she hit five or more 3-pointers in a game; no active D1 player has more such games in the last two seasons.
 
Currently, she leads the NCAA with 3-pointers (53) and average 3-pointers per game (4.1). Conner also holds the top position in D1 for total 3-pointers since the 2023-24 season with 153.
 
Conner and TCU will return to the court at 2 p.m. on Sunday against Brown (6-6) at Schollmaier Arena. Following that, TCU will continue conference play with a pair of home games versus Colorado and Cincinnati on Jan. 1 and Jan. 4 respectively.
