Oliver Wainwright has presented his selections for The Guardian’s annual critic’s program. His travels abroad, including visits to the Paris Olympics and Columbus, Indiana made an impression, along with the Met’s inaugural significant retrospective addressing the dynamic influence of Paul Rudulph, the children’s hospital in Zurich designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the Kunstsilo in Norway, and notably, the MAK Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna’s timely examination of “protest architecture” involving barricades, encampments, and activists’ creative “spatial strategies.”
